Half a Century
Quand j'étais petit, on me disait toujours, "Tu verras quand tu auras cinquante ans." Eh bien m'y voilà à cinquante ans. Et je n'ai rien vu. Rien. — Erik Satie
Joshua, I pulled this one on my first blog when I turned sixty (but in English translation)! It did not help much! However, I accompanied it with a Cocteau sketch, rather than a photograph; and I still enjoy that sketch.
Happy birthday, Josh - just turned 54 myself the other day. Didn't realize you were a fellow Scorpio. And as a college sophomore I set those words of Satie's to music in 1975, in a piece titled Satie that I still rather like.

I guess it means: bon anniversaire!
Bon anniversaire! (I left town for mine.)
Thanks, all, for the good wishes.
Well, Happy Birthday to vous! Delighted to welcome you to the fabulous fifties (I got here in March). You wear it well.
Here's to another five decades of delights and discoveries! Hope you had a great celebration!
